Time Management for Moms

time management
Do you feel like there's never enough time in the day to get everything done?

Does your to-do list keep getting longer?

Do you wonder where all the time goes between dropping the children off at school and picking them up? Most children are in school for 7 hours!

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, I've got a crash course for you in time management for moms! It's a crash course because it's simple, it's quick and it will create time in your busy day.

Let's get started with these time saving tips:

  1. Get organized! Do you have systems in place to manage your children's activities, to keep clutter at bay and to plan ahead? Organize My Life in 10 Short Days will help you take charge and manage your time.
  2. Write it down! After you've organized your life in 10 short days, it's time to start writing everything down! Beginning tomorrow morning, carry a small notebook with you and write down how long you spend doing everything! If it takes you 40 minutes to get ready in the morning…write it down! If it takes you 30 minutes to get the children to school…write it down! If it takes you 10 minutes to eat breakfast…write it down! Continue writing everything down in your notebook for 3 days.
  3. Analyze it! Take a look at your notebook…are you wasting time? How much time did you spend doing unnecessary things?
  4. Plan your day! Now it's time to plan your day from the moment you wake-up until you go to bed! You're going to make a schedule and follow-it! Your schedule might look like this: 6:00 wake-up and get ready, 6:30 wake-up children, 6:45 make breakfast and eat, 7:15 wash dishes, 7:30 take children to school, 7:45 put in one load of laundry, 8:00 check e-mail, 8:15 clean one room of the house, 8:30 pay bills….You get the idea! Setting a timer for each task may be helpful for you…it's like a school bell! If you schedule your life for a few days, you'll be amazed how much you will accomplish. Remember, schedule time each day for some of the things on your to-do list, and soon your to-do list will be no more!

When you're a stay at home mom, you're the boss! Nobody is telling you what to do and when to do it. Sometimes we all need to give ourselves a schedule, and that's what The Budget Diet girl calls time management for moms!
