My husband and I wanted to start renting out the spare room in our house on in 2014. I want to use my half of the money generated from this solely for the purpose of paying down my student loans. So far, so good! We started renting the room out earlier this month (through & Craigslist), and we are booked almost every week/month through May! I’ve also been using the proceeds toward my student loans only.
