Make Your Own Fast Food!

SAVE YOUR MONEY when you eat in, not out! It’s frugalicious and fast to make your own fast food plus you’ll know exactly what’s in it! Check out these options for making fast food and options for healthy fast food.

Pepperoni Pizza Bites – Instead of Totino’s Pizza Rolls try making Pepperoni Pizza Bites!

  • 1 can biscuits (regular size)
  • spaghetti sauce (about 1/8 cup)
  • 2 cheese sticks or light cheese sticks (cut each stick into 5 pieces)
  • pepperoni slices or reduced fat pepperoni slices (cut into very small pieces), optional
  • Heat oven to 375.
  • Flatten each biscuit.
  • Spread about 1/2 tsp. of sauce in the middle of each biscuit.
  • Place 2 slices pepperoni in the middle of each biscuit.
  • Top with 1 piece of the cheese.
  • Fold dough over filling and press the edges together at the top to seal.
  • Place on a baking sheet.
  • Bake 12 minutes or until lightly brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

 
Chicken Wrap – Craving McDonald’s Chicken Tender Snack Wrap?

  • frozen breaded chicken strips, use 1 per snack wrap
  • tortillas (fajita size)
  • mexican blend cheese
  • shredded lettuce
  • ranch dressing
  • Bake chicken strips according to package directions.
  • Place the cooked chicken tender in a warm tortilla.
  • Top with cheese, lettuce and ranch dressing

 

Chicken Sandwich – How about Chick-Fil-A for dinner tonight at a fraction of the cost?

  • frozen breaded chicken strips, use 1 per sandwich
  • hamburger buns or Hawaiian Rolls
  • dill pickle slices
  • honey mustard (optional)
  • Bake chicken strips according to package directions.
  • Toast buns.
  • Add 1 chicken strip to each sandwich, cutting the chicken tenders in half if needed.
  • Top with a pickle slice
  • Top it off with your own homemade honey mustard ( whisk together 1/2 cup mayo, 2 tablespoons mustard, 2 tablespoons honey, 1 tablespoon vinegar, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper).

 
Taco Meat – Don’t run for the border tonight, have Taco Bell night at home with this frugalicious and fast taco meat recipe you’ll be ready to serve tacos, burritos & nachos!

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 cup picante sauce
  • 1 can chili beans (do not drain)
  • brown beef and drain.
  • add picante sauce & beans.
  • Simmer 10 minutes.
  • Transfer to a crock pot to keep warm and then everyone can make their own taco, burrito or nachos! Just add: taco shells, flour tortillas, tortilla chips, grated Mexican blend cheese, shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, sour cream, salsa, guacamole and jalapenos!
