It’s easy and budget friendly to make your own granola bars…even better, you’ll know exactly what’s in them. These homemade chewy granola bars will cost less than $2 for 18 bars. You likely have the ingredients in your pantry, so what are you waiting for? Bake a healthy lunch snack for your kids today!
Ingredients
  • 2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • ½ cup dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup peanut butter
  • ¾ cup raisins, craisins, chocolate chips, M&M’s, nuts, flaxseeds or whatever you like.
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Spray a 9 x 13 pan with cooking spray.
  3. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl.
  4. Press into the prepared pan.
  5. Bake for about 18 minutes or until light golden brown.
  6. Cool 5 minutes and cut into rectangles.
  7. Cool completely.
  8. Store in an airtight container.

    That’s exactly why when I have the time I like to make my own stuff–because I know exactly what’s in them. I’m still trying to figure out lower sugar options of all of these, though. So, if you ever try it or find a good recipe, let me know!

    You could easily reduce the sugar a bit, and I bet your kids won’t know the difference! If they like raisins and dried fruit that will add some natural sweetness.
