7 Date Night Ideas Under $20

Do you and your spouse or significant other have date nights? If not, there has never been a better time to start than now! Date nights are a wonderful way to spend quality time together, strengthen the bond between you, and simply enjoy each other's company. With today's busy lifestyles, it's more important than ever to get that time away to be together. Date nights don't have to be expensive, either. Today we have 7 wonderful date night ideas for you – all under $20!

1. Cross-Town Bike Trip

Use a local map to plan a cross-town bike trip. Be sure to plan a route that makes room for a few stops – to your favorite ice cream parlor or snow cone stand. This is a wonderful date night idea that will give you the chance to have a great time together and do something unique…and healthy!

2. Enjoy a Local Football or Baseball Game

football game

Do you enjoy sports? Take a reminiscent trip to the field for the next high school football or baseball game and root for the home team! Visit the concession stand for dinner and order hot dogs and soft drinks, take selfies in the bleachers and enjoy the energy and spirit of the crowd.

3. Backyard Bonfire

Who says you have to leave your yard for a wonderful date night? Create a small (and safe) backyard bonfire and share a blanket while enjoying it. Roast marshmallows on sticks and make s'mores, listen to your favorite songs and enjoy each other's company.

4. Play Constellation I-Spy

Pack a picnic basket with a dinner of your choice, print out a map of the constellations, and take your car to an area in your town where it's at least semi-secluded and there are no street lights. If you're feeling extra romantic, pack a few candles so your picnic can be a candlelit dinner under the stars. Spend time together trying to locate the constellations.

5. Sing Karaoke Together

Find a local pub offering karaoke and take advantage! This can be a lot of fun if you and your significant other aren't shy individuals. Pick some great duets and play rock star for the night. Even with a few drinks, this is still a cheap (and fun) date night idea.

6. Go Geocaching in Your Town

Have you heard of “geocaching?” If not, it's a super-fun, (free) country-wide treasure hunt. Simply download the geocaching map onto your phone and turn on location services. The map will show you areas in your town where little caches are hidden (giving you clues to find the actual spot), and it's up to you to find them. Take a pencil or pen to sign the log papers usually present inside the caches and have a blast playing modern-day treasure hunters.

7. Cook Dinner for Your “Date”

Spend nothing by staying at home. If you have kids, ask a family member to keep them overnight (or for the evening), and cook a romantic dinner for your spouse. Get out the best china, light a few candles, turn soft music on in the background and wow your significant other with a delicious dinner. After all, it's not that important where you go, because the important thing is who you're with.

You don't have to spend a fortune to have an amazing date night and create some really great memories. Use the ideas above to enjoy yourself, even if you're on a tight budget. What's your favorite inexpensive date night adventure? Let us know in the comments below!
