1. Brown Sugar Body Scrub

The Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish at Sephora costs $65 for the 14.1 ounce. Use this quick recipe to make your own scrub that is just as luxurious but for a fraction of the price:

  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 20 Drops Essential Oil (your choice)

If you don't have the essential oil, you can leave it out. Either way, the scrub works just as well and is super moisturizing and healthy for your skin. Plus, it's extremely cheap.

2. Nourishing Hot Oil Treatment

An excellent hot oil treatment can cost $25 or more per treatment, depending upon the brand you buy. This simple treatment can work wonders for your hair without the heavy price tag:

  • 2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Simply mix the ingredients together and pop it in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds. Be very careful and make sure it's not uncomfortably hot before handling it/applying it. Now coat your hair from the root to the tips, being sure to saturate it all. Allow it to sit for 30 minutes and then wash with your normal shampoo.

3. Refreshing Peppermint Facial Mask

A facial mask can go a long way toward removing the signs of a sleepless night, a sickness, or even just our body's natural signs of getting older. Rather than forking out a significant amount of money for a name brand mask, just make this one:

  • 1/8 Cup Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Ground Oatmeal
  • 1 Teaspoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 5 Drops Peppermint or Spearmint Essential Oil

This awakening mask will leave you feeling fresh and alert. Simply mix the ingredients and apply it to your face (staying away from the eyes). Leave it on for about fifteen minutes or until you can feel it “caking,” or drying. Then, rinse thoroughly and follow with your usual moisturizer.

4. Matte Foundation

Matte foundation has a wonderful value, especially for women who suffer from oily skin. Here's a perfect way to create a matte foundation, no matter what color your skin is!

Simply use a small amount of your own foundation (about the amount you would apply to your face during one application) and use half that amount of cornstarch. Mix the cornstarch into the foundation and voila – you have a perfect matte foundation without the flashy price tag!

As you can see, it's easy to save money by making your own products at home. Plus, most of the time they're just as effective as the ones you purchase. Let us know which homemade beauty treatment you like the best in the comments below!
