Get Fit for Free – Home Workouts, No Equipment Required

get fit for free

When we moved from Texas to Florida, we gave up our gym membership because we were determined run and bike on the beautiful waterfront trails. So far, so good except it’s not always sunny in Florida! Rather than taking a day off when the weather doesn’t cooperate, I’ve discovered some great home workout routines on Pinterest that don’t require any equipment. I love the 100 calorie workout and 15 minute workout for days when I’m really pressed for time. There’s even a TV commercial workout, so you can watch your favorite shows and exercise only during the commercials…how fun is that?

Why do I love working out at home?

  1. Saves money – no equipment or gym memberships to buy
  2. It’s not a fashion show! Wear what you want because nobody’s watching…that’s a money saver too!
  3. Saves time and money because you eliminate driving to and from the gym.
  4. Watch the TV show you want instead of what’s playing at the gym.

The moral of this story? Don’t be lured by expensive workout equipment or fancy gym memberships because you really can get fit for free. It’s been 6 months, I’m still in great shape and my budget is too!

Hmmm. I’ve thought about this but I’ve never thought about it. Does that make any sense? I’ve decided to ditch my membership in the summer when it’s beautiful out. Here in NC ya never know what the weather will be like. It was 24 last Tuesday then 70 last Saturday. Thanks for the inspiration!

These are great lists. I really like the countdown from 100. It makes getting a great workout much simpler. Thanks for sharing!

Free is always good in my books! 🙂 I used to always do squats and lunges during commercials when my husband worked nights. Man, I had great legs back then!

Thank you for sharing this. I have been meaning to go to the gym but I always end up staying at home. These are just perfect for me. On top of my new year’s resolution is to lose weight.

I am completely a gym rat. I go to the gym often because I need the variety to stay motivated, but these exercises are awesome! And perfect for the days I just don’t feel like going…like smack in the middle of winter and summer. Thank you so much!!

Great ideas! I’m a runner myself, also because it’s cheap. But when the weather is bad, these are great alternatives.

LOVING these ways to sneak in workouts on cramped days! Especially the 100 calorie one, seems easy to get in in the morning before a shower. I’ll definitely try this out tomorrow morning! But here’s a question – what the heck is a Russian Twist? I know most of these exercises from Insanity, but I don’t know what this is. Thanks!

Oh, this is SO much my story these days. Just the fact that I can wear ratty old sweat pants. Love the money saving fact as well. Let’s make 2013 a healthy year!

super list—might have to implement a few of them myself—but that TV commercial one cracks me up—how watches commercials anymore??? I DVR almost everything so I can zip through it faster =)

My preferred form of exercise is walking. But I do believe I could get into The TV Commercial Workout… except for the jumping jacks…Momma ain’t jumping! 🙂
