If time is important, then using a service like this resource can save you lots of time. They’re free.

If you live in one of these deregulated states, take five minutes and lower your electric bill today! Simply click on your state, compare rates and save money. Your budget will thank you for it!

California
Connecticut
Delaware
Illinois
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
New Hampshire
New Jersey
New York
Ohio
Pennsylvania
Rhode Island
Texas
Washington D.C.

Thanks to deregulation, you can now shop around for the best electricity rates! The good news is that regardless of which electricity provider you choose…the actual delivery of the electricity stays the same. Your choice will not affect the reliability of your service or how quickly your power is restored after a storm. You won’t even have to take time out of your day for a workman to come to your home!

If you live in Texas, here’s a quick how-to:

  1. Go to: www.PowerToChoose.org
  2. Click on “go directly to offers” located in the bottom, right corner.
  3. Enter your zip code.
  4. Take a look at all your offers & choose! Please make sure to consider the length of contract! Your best rate may only be for a 3 month contract, so mark your calendar, and check the offers again in 3 months.

That’s it…you’ll be done in 5 minutes…no phone calls to make, no interruption to your electricity service…just lower energy bills that your budget will love!

Just last week, I was able to lower my rate by using this tool and start saving about $100 per month on my electric bill! Again, check out this service to reduce your electric bill in easy steps.

I tried the Illinois link but it doesn’t appear any of the cities actually offer options… I live in Chicago. Am I doing something wrong?

When you click on the Illinois link, you’ll see a small box on the right hand side where you enter your zip code. After that, your options should appear.

How do I find comparison rates for Michigan? As far as I know there is only one electrice company (and my bills are HUGE) and one natural gas company “serving” my area. I’d love to be able to shop around. I sure would appreciate some help with this. Thank you!

Here’s the link to a site that allows you to compare electricity rates in your state: http://www.puco.ohio.gov/puco/index.cfm/apples-to-apples/electric-apples-to-apples-chart/.
