Simply surrounding yourself with frugal folks will have a huge impact on your wallet. Think about it…
A frugal friend won’t ask you to go out to lunch instead she may ask you to go for a walk to catch-up on life.
A frugal friend may ask you to go shopping…at garage sales!
When I think back to the start of my frugal life, it began with two friends. We spent a lot of time together, and their frugal lifestyle became my lifestyle over time. Let me introduce you to them…
My frugal friend Karen loves to go shopping, and she’s introduced me to the most amazing consignment shops. Another one of Karen’s “secrets”…she always made friends with consignment shop owners, and they would call her when her favorite brands (in the right size) came in. Karen would never pay full price for anything – she’d never step foot in a mall without discounted gift cards. She’s a smart gal – she buys Bath & Body Works gift cards for 17% off, and then uses them when they have a sale. Same goes for her Macy’s gift cards that she buys for 11% off…she’ll wait and use them with a coupon AND a sale. Yes, there’s more than one way to save money, and there’s no rule about combining discounts. Buy Discounted Gift Cards For Up To 30% Off at Cardpool.com!
My friend Ellen is a garage sale queen and spends her Saturday mornings finding treasures. Her children’s toys came from garage sales, she has and when they outgrew them…she sold those same toys at her garage sale or to a consignment shop. She loves to entertain and has sets of dishes for every season…thanks to garage sales. When it came to decorating, Ellen has a great imagination. She would snatch up a dated piece of furniture, paint it and WOW!
Thank you Karen and Ellen for introducing me to the frugal lifestyle. It would be tough to ever go back to paying full price!
I promise, once you discover how to get something cheaper, paying full price will make you cringe! Frugal living is a lifestyle, and it won’t happen overnight…try to add just one money-saving habit each month, and a year from now you too will be my frugal friend.
