As the weather starts to cool down, some will spend more time outside. How about creating an eco-friendly project that will light up your outdoor space? To create the coolest, most fascinating project this fall, read on the instructions on how to create DIY solar lanterns.
What you need:
- Solar garden lights
- Candle holder
- Decorative pebbles
- Glue gun
Grab the candle holders. You may use other similar container like a jar for this project. Fill halfway of the container with decorative pebbles. You may also use pebbles from your backyard, sand or seashells to beautify your lantern.
Then, take apart the solar lights. You will only need the circular part where the solar panel and LED are located.
You will then suspend this solar panel on top of the holder. You will use 4 pieces of 5-inch string to do this. Apply glue on the four sides of the panel and carefully place each string on each side. To hide the mess, use a longer string to wrap around the panel. Once done, tie both ends and trim out the excess string.
If finished, it is time to secure the panel in place. Glue the four strings across from each other on the outside section of the candle holder to suspend the solar light. If done, cut off the excess string.
Again to hide the mess, wrap a longer string around the upper section of the candle holder like what you did around the panel. If you have remaining string, you may wrap some around the bottom section.
And you are done! Charge them up and see how they light up your porch or patio at night. Stunning!
