Here’s a recipe for a chocolate sheet cake that’s BIG, YUMMY and FASTER THAN OF BOX CAKE MIX! It’s frugalicious and fast! So, the next time you’re craving chocolate cake, BAKE IT…DON’T BUY IT!
Ingredients
- Cake Ingredients:
- 2 sticks butter
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Frosting Ingredients:
- 1 stick butter
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 6 tablespoons milk
- 1 box powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- M & M’s to sprinkle on top (optional but festive for a party!)
Instructions
- Cake Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400.
- Grease and lightly flour a 10″ x 15″ pan.
- Bring 2 sticks butter, 1 cup water & 1/4 cup cocoa powder to a boil.
- In a separate bowl, mix together flour and sugar.
- Pour boiled mixture over dry mixture.
- Add eggs, buttermilk, baking soda and vanilla.
- Bake at 400 for 20 minutes.
- Frosting instructions:
- Make frosting as soon as the cake comes out of the oven (no need to cool!)
- In a saucepan, combine 1 stick butter, 1/4 cup cocoa powder & 6 tablespoon milk.
- Bring to a boil.
- Add 1 box powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 1/2 cups nuts (optional).
- Sprinkle with M&M’s if desired
